MTU's remote learning system is designed to support authentication to your live classes through Canvas, so you should access canvas to enter into your zoom classroom.
To access your live Zoom classes, complete the following steps.
- Log in to Zoom via https://telcit.zoom.us/signin.
- Log into Canvas at cit.instructure.com. See How do I log into Canvas? for more information.
- From the Canvas dashboard, click the module which has the Zoom class that you need to attend.
- Click Zoom from the module menu.
- Click Click here to login with your MTU account to log into Zoom.
- In Canvas, under Upcoming Meetings, locate the Zoom class and click Join. If you have not done so already, you may receive a prompt to download Zoom to your computer, tablet, or phone.
- When Zoom opens, you may see a waiting room. Your lecturer will admit you to the room when they are ready.
Important:
- It is recommended that all new students access Zoom via Canvas in the first instance. This will provision your account and allow you to go via the Canvas LMS (Learning Management System).
- Make sure you are logged out of the Zoom app before accessing via Canvas
- You may still encounter this error if you click on a Zoom link from your calendar or To-do list in Canvas. You must access the Zoom link through the Zoom tab within your module (step 3 below) to activate your MTU account.
- If you encounter any issues, check your browser settings and ensure that third-party cookies are enabled (this will typically be under privacy settings).
- Clear your cache before attempting to join Zoom in the first instance (guide here: https://edtechstudents.eu.helpdocsite.com/canvas-getting-started/clearing-your-browser-cache
Note: Once you’ve joined Zoom through Canvas at least once, your account will be set up and you can also log in directly via the Zoom app using SSO and your MTU email.
