You can access all of the badges that you have earned on the MTU Canvas by creating a Parchment (formerly Badgr) account.
Important note: You will need to create a Parchment account using the email address that is listed on your Canvas account to be able to access your badges. This email will either end in @mycit.ie or @mymtu.ie email (regardless of how you currently authenticate into Canvas.
Digital badges are linked with your email address but if you have older badges linked with other email addresses it's possible to combine these to make sure that you have all your digital badges in one place. You will find guidance on adding an additional email address to your account at the end of this page.
Creating an account on the badge platform Parchment
To create a Parchment account, complete the following steps:
- Go to https://badges.parchment.eu/.
- Click Create Account.
- Enter the email connected to your Canvas account in the Email field and click Continue.
- Badgr will email you a verification code. Enter that verification code in the fields and then click Verify.
- Fill in your name and chosen password, agree to the Terms of Service, and then click Create account.
- To view your badges go to https://badges.parchment.eu/backpack/badges.
Viewing your Canvas digital badge from the Email Notification
If you receive a notification by email that you have earned a digital badge (the email subject is usually "Congratulations, you earned a badge!"), you can view that badge without logging in by selecting the Download button at the bottom of the email.
Please note: If the buttons in your email do not work properly, the safest thing to do is go to https://mtu.badges.parchment.eu/ and either log in or create an account. You will find your badges in the Backpack tab at the top of the page.
This will bring you to the webpage for the badge which will include your email address and the date the badge was issued.
Adding another email address to your badging account
Please note: If you cannot find your digital badge on your Parchment account, your badge may have been issued to another of your email addresses (e.g. your IT Tralee, Cork IT or MTU email addresses). You don't need to create a new account for each email, you can add other email addresses to your account.
