Discussions in Canvas are spaces where you, your fellow students and your lecturers can all communicate with each other, raise concerns, offer support and advice, etc. Discussions are basically a way of holding online group discussions. Some lecturers may also grade you on your contributions to discussions.
You can access the discussion area by clicking on “Discussions” in the left-hand Module Menu
This will show you a list of the discussions available in the module. At the top of the screen, there may also be a section for “pinned discussions”. These are important discussions that the lecturer may want to be “top of the list” and could include deadlines, special dates, notices and rubrics.
If you click into a discussion, you can reply to a discussion topic by pressing on the “Write a reply” button at the base.
When you are happy with your reply, you can press the red "Post Reply" button in the lower-right corner. You can also
1. Attach a file to your reply
2. Record audio or video directly into your computer as part of your reply by pressing on the “Record/ Upload Media” icon. From here you can record audio or video into Canvas or upload an existing media file.
